Black Rock:The Black Rock is a first cross (sex- link) hybrid of a hardy nature and is ideally suited for Scotland's inclement winters they have a thicker plumage than most pullets on the market and so can convert their food to producing more eggs rather than using it to keep warm. The Black Rock should produce on average about 280 eggs per season providing all environmental conditions are correct and they are fed on the appropriate diets.
The Black Rock adapts equally well to the free range and organic markets, producing a brown egg with strong shells. Isa Brown: The Isa Brown comes also from the Hubbard Isa stable and has phenomenal egg producing capabilities in the first year of lay, with good food conversion figures making for low costs/dozen eggs, producing brown eggs of good shell quality.
Babcock B380: The Babcock B380 comes from the world renowned Hubbard Isa stable and with that good breeding is a bird which is easy to manage having a good temperament and great resilience yielding distinctive egg quality, colour and strength. The Babcock B380 should produce in excess of 290+ brown eggs per laying year subject to correct environmental conditions and diet. Speckledy: The speckledy is a hybrid based on the pure breed of maran, like the maran the spekledy will lay a dark brown egg which is very attractive the bird should lay 270+ in the first year of lay. This hybrid is proving ever more popular with small commercial flocks, who like to offer their customers a variety of different colured eggs.All hybrids are available from d/o to growers to point of lay. Light Sussex: Popular old fashioned farmyard breed dual purpose utility bird with good egg production, and good carcass at end of lay.Rhode Island Red: Most modern types of hybrid have Rhode Island blood in them at some point in their evolvement, good egg layers with good strong shells, the Rhode Island is also a dual purpose and can reach excellent weights for table. Maran: The maran has a very attractive cuckoo colour, also a heavy breed which lays a beautiful dark brown egg, very hardy like most types of pure breeds they have a thicker plumage for those cold winter days.
We also stock or can source any pure breed bantam or large fowl.Wellsummer, Wyandottes, Leghorns, Barnevelders, Black Minorcas, Polands,Scots Greys, Scots Dumpies,Pekin, Silkies to name but a few.All pure breed are available with stock cockerels if required. Ducks and Geese Khaki Campbell: Great egg layers with production well over 300+ in first year these ducks are flightless so no need to worry about clipping wings or such like. Indian Runner:The runner duck comes in a variety of colours from black, white, fawn etc. Another good egg layer with production over 300+. A very good alternative to sheep if you are training a collie dog, some of our ducks are in action at Mark Wyllies display in Luss Loch Lomond side and at the Woolen Mill in Aberfoyle. Aylesbury: The aylesbury is a dual purpose duck with good egg production and an excellent table duck. We also stock call ducks, cayuga, silver appleyard etc, plus the elegant Chinese geese and their cousins the African . Also Embden, Roman Hawaiian and Breacon Buffs.
